april 19th, nyc: get down and dirty with dirt candy's amanda cohen

We're joining forces with Nibble & Squeak to bring you a three-course vegetable-forward feast by the Lower East Side's Dirt Candy and an interview with its innovative owner and chef, Amanda Cohen. Located on the Lower East Side, Dirt Candy was the first vegetable-focused restaurant in the city. The restaurant became the first vegetarian spot in 17 years to receive two stars from the New York Times, was recognized by the Michelin Guide five years in a row, and has won multiple awards. We'll catch up with Amanda about how she built and led her team to turn Dirt Candy from the seed of an idea into the talk of the town.

april 19th, london: dr. sara de benedictis on birth in pop culture (and why it matters)

Drawing on fieldwork that explored how women make meaning through UK phenomenon One Born Every Minute, Dr. Sara De Benedictis will talk through representations of birth and what they reflect about class, frustrations with heterosexual relationships or motherhood, irritation with men, discontent with work, austerity and the NHS, to name a few. With pram parking in the beer garden, it's an afternoon of curiosity and cuteness you won't want to miss.
